cpqasm in the system management/heath driver and part of its function is to monitor the system temperature. The message indicates that a thermal event occurred in the system. What is the model of the server? As the system did not shut down it could be a false error - try updating the BIOS and the management driver on the server.

As mention in the previous reply, this could mean a failed controller. Occasionally this can be caused by the other components in the SCSI chain. Disconnect the scsi cable from the controller, if the error goes away you probably are looking at something other that the controller, cable being the first suspect. The ML110 G3 does support RAID. You should see the SATA controller initializing during POST and the option to get into the configuration utility is F8. You may have to enable the raid in the BIOS set up (F10), there is an option for IDE configuration where you need to set the ATA/IDE setting to Enhanced and set it to use RAID. Typically you want to boot off the SmartStart CD that come with the server, and run the Array Configuration Utility. The ACU will allow you to create the array and logical driver. You could create Array A with your os logical drive and Array B with your data logical drive. Depending on the number of driver you have, you can have a separate spare for array of one spare HDD for both arrays.

Under the Accelerator Status there should be a Failed Batteries field; this could have a value of x0 â Normal, x1 â BBWC battery problem, x2 â Controller battery problem, x3 - both batteries have a problem.

Which controller are you using? You need to press F6 during the initial NT Cd boot process and specify the controller driver. The other option would be to use the Smart Start CD, but this will wipe out all data on the drives

Yes you can, upgrading to the 532 would be a better choice. You need to load the driver before you switch, so install the 532, boot off while still connected to the 431; install the driver, swap cables from 431 to 532 and remove the 431, set the boot controller to the 532 (from the ORCA (F8) of the 532), run the SCU to that the system changes are registered and you should be good to go. Have a valid and current back up!

What was the 17xx error on post? IF you added a new drive offline, after the â failureâ that you simulated, you will get a prompt on POST stating a logical drive ( using the surviving member of the mirror) needs recovery and the F1 F2 option and one or them says F2 to rebuild (I think its F2).

My 2 cents ...........If you have replaced the battery today, I would give it some time to charge. Also clear your IML, just to make sure that its not reporting any residue information.

The ML370 G3 does not have an integrated Smart Array controller. You will need to get a PCI option. The embedded controller is a plain SCSI controller and can be used for JBOD. The other option is to configure SW raidâ ¦although a Smart Array controller is strongly recommended.

You cannot use a smart start on the 100 series. Which controller are you using? On a raid controller you need to set up the logical drive using the ROM based set of the controller. Then boot off the OS CD, depending on the controller you may need to press F6 to specify the controller driver and the setup should go through.
