IPVPN links listed twice in routing table

Hi all, I would love some advice please. We have had some IPVPN links installed at several sites and these then link in to 2 of our main offices which are connected by fibre. We use OSPF and I'm not very familiar with how it chooses the best route. The routing table on my office switch has the IPVPN destination networks listed twice with different gateways but same admin. distance. Does it do load balancing? And if so, what's the best way to stop this from happening as I think it is causing chaos on the WAN.

See below example of routing table

Destination Gateway VLAN Type Sub-Type Metric Dist.
------------------ --------------- ---- --------- ---------- ---------- -----
0.0.0.0/0 10.22.20.254 2 static 201 1
10.10.9.0/24 10.22.12.254 1 ospf External2 1 110
10.10.9.0/24 10.22.20.254 2 ospf External2 1 110
10.10.10.0/24 10.22.12.254 1 ospf External2 1 110
10.10.10.0/24 10.22.20.254 2 ospf External2 1 110

Thanks

Michelle

Re: IPVPN links listed twice in routing table

Hi,

OSPF does load balance equal cost routes. In your case the vpn routes have same metric and same AD value so its load balancing.

You can stop this from happening by changing the metric/AD value of the routes OR changing the CIDR value of the subnets.
