We are trying to complete a basic configuration on a HP1620-24G using the switch's web console. We want to configure NTP to sync with a public time server (i.e. time1.google.com or pool.ntp.org) using DNS or their IP address. The manual's instructions use an internal NTP server with "keys" for NTP. We cannot figure out how to configure NTP using the manual's instructions. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

just fill in the NTP server IP address, and omit key id and string

Re: NTP Config Using Web Console on 1620-24G (JG913A)
Thats a no-go. Clock Status is still unsynchronized. :(
With all the fields blank (except the NTP Server 1 IP-216.239.34.15), it still has a system date/time in the year 2000. I tried toggling the SOurce Interface field from blank to VLAN-Interface1 - still no luck. After each change, I rebooted, hoping NTP would update the time/date.
I can traceroute to the google NTP server from my laptop that is attached to the switch. The switch's built in traceroute fails to complete the trace to the same IP.
From my laptop...
traceroute to 216.239.34.15 (216.239.34.15), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

SolutionReviewing the manual, it seems to me like the web GUI lacks an option to configure a default gateway. Can you find such setting? Without it, the switch won't be able to access outside network.
Other options:
-Use DHCP to automatically configure switch IP address, including gateway
-Hook up console cable to see if you can configure IP settings. The "summary" command should display current IP settings , including gateway

Not sure but some NTP won't work with a large time difference.

Re: NTP Config Using Web Console on 1620-24G (JG913A)
BINGO! It's always something simple. As soon as I changed the IP settings to DHCP, the clock synced after a reboot. I'll just have the DHCP server give the assigned address instead of manually assigning within the Web GUI.
Thanks A TON!

To me, using DHCP is just a workaround.
If you really can't configure default route in GUI, the blame should be on the designers
