ProCurve Switch 1700-24 not gigabite on all ports
Hello we have at office today the ProCurve Switch 1700-24.
Now we have upgraded the fiber connection to 300 mbit.
But it seems that the ProCurve Switch 1700-24 is only capable of outputting 1000mbit on port 23-24, and port 1-22 is only 10mbit.
And we would need to output over 100+ mbit on all ports, to local office pc.
So i guess this switch is to old to handle this.
If i upgrade to the HPE 1920-24G , is that the same type of switch ? Just that it can output 100+ on all ports .
so we can get the full effect on our new fiber connection.
a little about the setup
fiber from Telenor Norway goes to a Cisco catalyst 3650 thats in bridge mode.
then Cisco catalyst 3650 to WAN router.
From Router Lan 1 to the procurve 1700-24 on port 24 and then its goes to local pc.(about 20 pc at office)
regards from Mike

22 ports 10/100 (2 dual identity)
no PoE
1920-24G (JG924A): https://www.hpe.com/h20195/v2/getpdf.aspx/4AA5-4095ENW.pdf?ver=4.0

What do you mean by "the same type of switch"?

Re: ProCurve Switch 1700-24 not gigabite on all ports
What do you mean by "the same type of switch"?
I was refereeing to the term smart switch, and if the 920-24G was just a newer version of the same series.
However i ordered the 1920-24G (JG924A) today.
But i have a aditional question .
The old switch 1700-24, the router lan1 goes into port 24 on the switch, and then from switch to all the local pc's.
So port 24 is input for the whole network on the old switch.
Would the 1920-24G autodetect also that it is the input for the whole network?
Like if i goes from router lan1 to port 1 on 1920-24G.
Im not very experinced with switches thats why i am asking. And he old setup nobody knows who set that up.

Re: ProCurve Switch 1700-24 not gigabite on all ports
It sounds like you have no VLAN configuration on the old switch.
Your clients have an IP default gateway configured in their IP configuration (your Cisco router). They will send packets directed to the address of the CIsco router. When the very first packet to the Cisco router comes to the new switch, the new switch will send a broadcast, asking where the cisco router is located. The Cisco router will answer to the broadcast, so the switch knows where the router is located (port 24).
tldr: It works.

Re: ProCurve Switch 1700-24 not gigabite on all ports
well todays setup is from Cisco switch wich are in bridge mode to WAN router since we then have wifi , and from router LAN1 to port 24.
So our router handles all the clients.and adresses.
But if i understand you i can do the same setup , without doing to much on the new router.
