Does anyone know if the 32-bit version of Oracle 10g is certified to run on the 64-bit vesion of Windows 2003 using WOW 64?

From what I could find out through Oracle, 32bit will run find on a 64bit platform.

You will be limited to what the 32bit version can address was the only disclaimer I could find.

Jon, thanks for the reply. Can you point me at a URL where I can read the statement? I have access to Metalink but I couldn't find anything.

It'll run as a 32-bit app/service in win64, and (I might add) a bit slower...

I logged a tar with Oracle and spoke to a support engineer. He told me that running 32-bit Oracle on 64-bit Windows is NOT supported. It may work but Oracle will not entertain any support calls in this environment.

Ian,

Google on: Oracle 32bit Windows 64bit

The hits I got that seemed pertinent, were various Oracle forums and sites that were demonstrating setups, or talking about compatibility and performance.

There was also an article with a responce from "an Oracle representative", but nothing that stated a "Supported" viewpoint.

I see this as the following:
Virtual Server will run on Windows XP without problem, even though MS doesn't support it. Somewhere there is even an article on an MS site that describes how to set it up. :-)

But based on what you've gotten back from Oracle on what they are willing to support, you have to look at the limitations they've set.
