Hello !
We have a windows 2000 advance server with exchange 2000 at X location( e.g. abc.com register domain) which is act bridge head server ( Main server )and one Additional domain Controller at the same place which is used for accounts application.
We have win2k child doamin controller with exchange 2000 (test.abc.com) at Y location connected thru router.
Now we want to migrate this win2k server + exchange 2000 in to win2k3 + exchange 2003 with a different domain controlle( i.e. from abc.com to xyz.com )
Kindly help me how to do this.

Re: Active Directory in windows 2003
I don't know about exchange but what i know is:
You can use third party software to migrate user accounts, security policies, etc.
OR
You can install a windows 2003 as an additional domain controller for the abc.com domain, after the AD has been synchronized, you can remove it from the network, change the compatibility level to windows 2003 and use the rendom utility to rename the domain.
Test the new domain controller, then you will need to upgrade/reinstall all your windows 2000 controllers to windows 2003 to allow them join the domain.
If you can rename a domain on windows 2003, Exchange should support this.

Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Cheers,

P.S. I would not attempt domain rename...

Re: Active Directory in windows 2003
Good information!.
So, is better to upgrade to exchange 2003 before upgrading the windows 2000. Exchange 2000 won't run on Windows 2003.
Then do the procedures needed to rename sucessfully the domain and start exchange 2003 as described above.
