All zero MAC address on Proliant servers
We are a supplier of medical software on a variety of platforms and we have recently encountered the following problem:
The software API we use returns a MAC address of all zeros (00:00:00:00:00:00)on HP Proliant DL380 servers running the TEAM product. This creates a problem with our registration algorithm resulting in customers overwriting other customers in a customer database. This software has worked on numerous other systems running both Windows XP and 2003 Server but seems to fail on these systems. My only guesses are 1) inability to properly query the MAC address from the chip/OS, 2) some property of the TEAM software that interferes with normal MAC determination. Customers of these systems believe that they are getting valid MAC information based on results from an ipconfig /all query to the system.
