Cluster drives are not visible on another cluster nodes
One of our client wants to move all the SAN drives from one windows existing 2node cluster to another 2 node cluster. by doing so he can see the drives but not the drive letters and disk shows 100% full.
how can the drives be presented and all the data drive letters are visible to cluster.
OS: Windows 2003
Cluster : MSCS Cluster
Storage: EMC Clariion CX700

Re: Cluster drives are not visible on another cluster nodes
Hi,
You have to "stop" the usage of those drives in the first node, you have to deactivate the IO to them, the unpresent the drives from this node, and present the drives to the another node using the same configuration that you used in the other node, by using EMC this doesn't have to be a problem, the point is that you have to unpresent the drives at all from the first node, then use the disks in another one, the drive letters could be different as they are not part of the drive itselft, they are just logical identifiers.
You can get a couple of guides from www.emc.com about migration, I remember that they have a procedure running w2k3.
Regards,
Marco,

Just unplug and plug in again ....

Re: Cluster drives are not visible on another cluster nodes
To add to what Marco said, you need to remove the drives from the MS Cluster as well before unpresenting them on the SAN.
I have also found that when you are having disk problems in a 2003 Cluster, its always a good idea to go to each machine, open Disk management and do a "ReScan".
