clustering howto on ProLiant DL380 Packaged Cluster with MSA500

could someone guide me on what to do for enabling clustering? What are the steps?should i install first active directory on both "machines"-clusters and after that make them clusters?
thank you

Re: clustering howto on ProLiant DL380 Packaged Cluster with MSA500

ok, that article solved a few things and thank you for that, BUT I still don't know if what I'll do is the right thing.Could someone guide me please?
1.install windows 2003 enterprise on both clusters?
2.install Active directory on both clusters?(as I don't have YET a domain controller on the network, one of the clusters must be primary domain controller and the other cluster must be an additional domain controller??)
3.install DNS locally on both clusters? (I need to install dns only locally since the clusters won't have access to the internet)
4.make the "cluster"?

Thank you very much for your help.

and one more question: I don't use a primary name server (the cluster as I said won't be connected to the external network) so is it ok if the domain instead of being testing.exmple.com would only be testing.local?

Hi:

Sorry, that last link was a WIN2K clustering link. Here's a good WIN2K3 link:

Re: clustering howto on ProLiant DL380 Packaged Cluster with MSA500

thank you very much for the link, actually I think it's the same link that Ganesh gave me.Call me stupid, but now I think I can setup the clusters, BUT I still can't figure out what to do with the DNS... i mean I will have to setup DNS on both clusters? if yes, would I have to have access to another primary DNS server? (the cluster is on the intranet and has no internet access and won't ever have access to the "outsite" world. What's to be done?

Julian:

Both machines must be domain controllers AND DNS servers. See:

Re: clustering howto on ProLiant DL380 Packaged Cluster with MSA500

thank you all, I have managed to install things now and everything is going just smooth thanks to you :)
one more question though....can both clusters work at the same time? some sort of load balancing? If yes, how this can be done?
