We have purchased (8) new 2.5 GHZ Processors for this server which are replacing the (4) 2.0 GHZ Processors. I have upgraded the system BIOS to the 12/08/03 version.
During POST, the spash screen gives me an error "Warning: Flagging Processors marked as BAD" Then it beeps at me (3) times and then I get "212-Processor Failed" for every CPU. I've tried just installing (4) of the processors as well and I get the same error.
If I put the (4) original 2.0 CPUs back in,
the system works fine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Solution
Hi,
Have you checked the on-line manuals on: Troubleshooting guide
http://h200002.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/UCR/SupportManual/TPM_338615-2/TPM_338615-2.pdf and tried the HP Insight Diagnostics which should be on the smartstart CD?
Or see the HP ProLiant DL740 Server User Guide on http://h200002.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/UCR/SupportManual/TPM_270854-002_rev5_us/TPM_270854-002_rev5_us.pdf
By quickly browsing there was something about connection both power supplies if you add a lot of Proc, MEM ....
Hopefully this helps.

Re: DL 740 CPU Upgrade
Thanks for all your help.
I finally figured out what to do to fix it.
When I tried to hit "F9" to access the BIOS the first time, the keyboard was locked and it would not let me in.
I was finally able to access the BIOS after a few more boots and I went into the options and marked the CPU's as corrected.
That seemed to fix the problems.
Thanks again for your help!
