EVA 4100 with MS Windows 2003 Server issue.

Hello,

I have the Following Config.

EVA 4100 with 146gb x 14 FC disks. iam planning to upgrade this to 450GB x 14 FC Disks.

These disks are in 1 Volume group of around 1.5TB . i use VMWare ESX Server 3.5 which creates VM's in this SAN Storage.

Can i Create Windows 2003 Server Std VM's which can have a Disk Space of more than 2TB , i heard there was some issue with the 2TB limitation..

Please help.

Thank You.

Dear Ragunath,

With refer to Microsoft TechNet documentation, the limit "2TB" is only apply to simple and mirrored volumes.

For other RAID volume, you can setup more than 2TB to 62 ~ 64TB. Please refer to table 1.2 for better explanation.

Thanks!

A VMware ESX VMDK file or RDM cannot be larger than 2 TeraBytes even if Windows 2003 can deal with larger disk. If you need a larger NTFS volume, map several VMDKs/RDMs and combine them in a dynamic volume.
