How to Configure Cluster

Hello all,

I have two numbers of BL35p servers which are discless and are connected to EVA 5000 through Qlogic Mezzanine card.

I wanted to configure windows cluster with shared quorum.

Please help me to find details/specs on how to do it.

Regards,
Amit

Re: How to Configure Cluster

To avoid troubles, I suggest you to use internal disks for the operating system, and shared disks for the quorum and application data. You could do a boot from SAN but this could make more complex troubleshooting in case of problems.

See also the attached file.

Re: How to Configure Cluster

You indicate you have only one FC SAN card, so you also need to do a registry change to allow the cluster disks and boot disks to be on the same controller...

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886569/en-us

Keep in mind that with the boot disk on SAN (and in this case via the same connection) the OS is very exposed to any delays in cases where the IO is high and any competition for the bandwidth. As an example Windows is not very tolerant if access to the pagefile.sys is delayed - blue screen or slow performance may be the net result.

Cheers,
