Installing W2K3 Service Pack 1 on ML370

We recently tried to install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 on our ML 370, but on reboot the server would get to the Windows splash screen and then reboot. We ended up having to use Smartstart and rebuild the server. Why did this happen? Can anyone help?

You need to install PSP 7.30 BEFORE windows 2003 sp1 install
