Krishna:

This error occurs when logged in to the W2K3 box? All users, or only a particular user?Is the user logging on locally or remotely? Have you tried both ways?

Please be as specific as possible.

Thanks and make a great day!

Check the permissions on C:\WINDOWS\system32\ipconfig.exe

Power Users should have Read, Read+Execute.

Re: ipconfig - An internal error occurred: Access is denied

The "general" information I've found of similar problems, is that it is related to invalid DNS entries, or lmhosts, or hosts, etc.

In other words, the system attempts to resolve first the system it is being launched from, so queries a DNS source. If that "source" is incorrect, or corrupt, you could get this error.

Could this becaused by "stack" damage? Possibly.. but I'd start with the DNS possibility first.

by the way this box belongs to workgroup. There is no domain in the network.

Re: ipconfig - An internal error occurred: Access is denied

Something could be interrupting your TCP stack - I've seen this problem with failed McAfee installs, and also from the Sasser worm. Kind of two different directions, I know, but hopefully this helps.
