lh3000 upgrade to Windows Server 2003 with netraid 4m
Hi there
I am wanting to upgrade an lh3000 to Windows Server 2003 from NT4, using the in-place upgrade method. I need to know whether 2003 supports the netraid 4m controller. The winnt /checkupgradeonly doesn't return any problems with the 4m controller, but I want to be sure.
Are there drivers for the netraid 4m for 2003, or are they bundled with Windows Server 2003?
Thanks
Raymond

Re: lh3000 upgrade to Windows Server 2003 with netraid 4m
I saw running Windows 2003 with Netraid-4M, so I could say they are compatible. I heard about problems with clustering, but this is other problem. My suggestion - get some HDD, use imaging util such a ghost or TrueImage to make exact copy of your hard disks, then try upgrade. If you have domain running, disconect network before upgrade. In case of trouble you can always get to exaclty same config like before.

Unfortunately i don't have spare disks. The server in question will be the 2nd domain controller in the domain, so if it fails its not too serious - just have to get it running again with either 2000 or 2003. All data will be backed up to another server before I start the upgrade. If i could find out if 2003 definitely will see the disks on the 4m controller that would be ideal. I also saw the posts with other users using 4m controllers with 2003 - I need to know how they set this up and if they had to do anything special for 2003 to see the disks. 2003 does not "officially" support the 4m according to the HCL, and there are no 2003 drivers for the 4m on the HP site.
