ML110 - Enable Serial ATA in BIOS
I have an HP ProLiant ML110 which was shipped with a 36GB SCSI HDD.
I have recently purchased a Maxtor SATA II HDD and connected it to the motherboard using one of the two available SATA slots.
When I turned on the computer and entered BIOS, I noticed that the Serial ATA choice is disabled, so I cannot enable the SATA support on my computer.
What should I do?
Thanks a lot
George

Re: ML110 - Enable Serial ATA in BIOS
If it's an original ML110 (not G2, G3, etc.), this MAY help:

Make a great day!

Re: ML110 - Enable Serial ATA in BIOS
If you can find a model number series similar to this (339042-xx1) on the chassis and post it here, I may be able to tell you more about your system. Otherwise, the processor and chipset could help us.
Make a great day!

Re: ML110 - Enable Serial ATA in BIOS
for equipment that falls under the "ML110" umbrella.
There are SATA, ATA, and SCSI models of ML110. If you have a 'first generation' ML100 with a SCSI drive in it, chances are it will not support a SATA drive without first adding a SATA controller (and even then, there may be problems).
For hardware/configuration problems such as these, the people in the Proliant forums are better equipped to answer your questions (http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/categoryhome.do?categoryId=264). These are the Microsoft forums and deal primarily with Microsoft software. Having said that, if you're willing to read the replies and post the requested information, someone here may be able to help. We need specific model information to help with hardware/configuration issues. I don't know how to say it more clearly.
Make a great day!

Re: ML110 - Enable Serial ATA in BIOS
http://www.cdhsrl.it/hp/HP_SMB_cat_Oct_0610.pdf
which shows it as an Italian ATA model. Since that model would not have a SATA controller, I assume that explains why SATA is grayed out in the BIOS.
Here is a link to product information on the HP Italy website:
