ML110 onboard SATA (again)

How do you use the two ONBOARD SATA connectors on the ML110 motherboard?

I have seen previous responses pointing to chapter 8 in the hardware support manual, but this is a reference to the Promise RAID controller and the hot-swap SATA cage.

This is not what I want to do - I don't need RAID, don't want hot-swap - I just waant to install an SATA drive using the onboard connectors.

The BIOS has an option to enable SATA, but it's set to 'disable' and can't be reached to change that.

1) Any suggestions about how to enable the BIOS?
2) If not, what are these connectors for on the motherboard?
