Re: Network teaming with active directory
You can configure network teaming on DC, but
if you really need it?
Most likely NIC's is not botlleneck for DC.
The risk is that if you run into
trouble with teaming it may causes issues with DC.
Just do search "Network teaming troubles" on Google or even on ITRC forums ....

Re: Network teaming with active directory
I've heard of problems doing this but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
First, find the name of the installed adapter by typing
ipconfig
at a command prompt.
Let's say it's called adapter 0,
ipconfig /registerdns 0
Now activate the second adapter (assume it's called 1)
ipconfig /registerdns 1
According to Microsoft:
"
By default, the ipconfig /registerdns command refreshes all DHCP address leases and registers all related DNS names configured and used by the client computer.
"
see http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/Library/792cc8f3-15f2-4f87-b83a-3a12d12c6b5b1033.mspx
It is critical the two adapters are completely up to date DNS-wise. If one of them gets out of sync, problems may occur.
It the DC is still not working, please check:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B837513
(Domain controller is not functioning correctly)
If you have the Win2003 Support Tools installed, there is a program called:
dcdiag
Type this, or dcdiag /v for even more info.
Covered on MS TechNet here:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/Library/1d4ce93c-54f2-4069-a708-251509c388371033.mspx
Suggest you try this on a slow day. If teaming has a problem, clients may not be able to connect to the DC.
Good luck.

Re: Network teaming with active directory
Hi
depends also on machine
I made it on DC Dell, and on HP also with different results. On Dell I needed to add also assistance of CISCO switch and sw delivered with server, on HP it worked just fine without any troubles. Absolutelly no troubles for Active directory at all. I would say it is up to HW how it can manage things like this. It maybe can cause a bit of troubles when used for redundancy, but I don't think so when used for improve a speed.
