printer not printing
i recently installed a lj2430n on our win2003 server (for small business server ) and print a test page and it worked peachy. i logon to my local computer (winxp pro)and install that printer, no problem, print a test page and all is good in the world. i have a user install it on his computer(winxp pro), by selecting it from the list of printers in the directory. works, no problem. i then have him try and send a test sheet to the printer and it fails. IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE! each test page from these computers are ending up in error in the spooler on teh server.
can anyone suggest a resolution to this?

Re: printer not printing
i had a somewhat similar problem on a win2003 SBS server.
What i found was, unlike a normal server OS, the SBS system really wants you to use the server management tools to set everything up, including printer shares.
Also, you may find that the print shares are NOT user modifiable, unless you give the users the rights to do so. In which chase the default paper mode (Letter) becomes an issue. Printing will fail if the paper is the wrong size. Give your users print operator rights, get them to install the printer under THEIR profile/account and not the administrators account. I bet your probs will dissapear real quick.

Re: printer not printing
Hi Rob,
Thankyou for the reply. I infact did what you suggested before reading your reply, and it indeed works that way. I also am runnin win2k3 sbs, but out of our 6 laserjet series printers, this is the only one i am having this trouble with. all other are installed on the server and shared out with out any problems.
thanks again,
matt
