problem booting WINPE on ML 350
Hi,
I have an automated server installation plateform which works quite well, but I experience some problem with my new ML 350 G4 and most probably with the Mass Storage Drivers.
Technically, the installation process does the following:
1- Server boot using PXE
2- Windows 2003 RIS server respond and offers a RIS integrated WINPE Image
3- WINPE Boots, creates partition, formats drives, connects Network share and laucnh an unattended install
4- Unattend Install process automatically to the end.
All of this being Zero Touch
The problem appears shortly after the progress bar of WINPE disappears (So, it cannot be network drivers Problem), the WINPE booting process hangs and display the message (approximately, because my message is in french):
An unexpected error occured in txtsetup.oem at line 1752 in d:\nt\base\bottsetup\oemdisk.c
"
I managed to add Mass Storage Drivers in the, I believe, right directory and updated the WINPEOEM.sif, but it doesn't seem to work.
if someone could help me, it would be great
thank you

Re: problem booting WINPE on ML 350
Hello,
Will this help?
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?locale=en_US&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=397642&prodTypeId=15351&objectID=PSD_EM021218_CW03
What is the sysprep switch you used?
Can you post what is in line 1752 of the txtsetup.oem?

Re: problem booting WINPE on ML 350
Hi,
Thank you for the answer.
In fact I don't use any sysprep switch, because I don't have to.
When I want to build a server, I manage to start a PXE boot. My RIS server answer the remote boot resquest and propose to choose an installation image, similar to the usual RIS setup images.
The trick is that behind the image there is no image but a RIS integrated WinPE. At this point I have no real system installed on my server.
From the Customized WinPE, I prepare partition and begin an unattended Install from a network share. But on my Proliant I don't even succeed in booting WinPE, because of the mass storage drivers management.
This Process allow my servers to start a Win32 network environment without having to handle boot disks, CD-ROM or drivers. All I need to do is to update my WinPE to add networks drivers and in this case: the HP Smart Array 641 mass storage Drivers.
I read the article, but I don't think it applies to my problem. I tested and It doesn't solve anything.
the Other Problem with the line 1752 of the txtsetup.oem is that it doesn't exist. It's just a tag file of roughly 50 lines!
I don't understand what appends
