Re: REset Admin password

Your server is a Domain Controller, that's why "Logon to this computer" doesn't show up at the Authentication (Windows Security) sreen.
If there are more DCs in the domain, try getting the administrator password reset by another member of the Domain Admins group.

Another way of getting the password reset is described here below:

Here's what to do when your Windows 2003 domain password has been lost.
http://mcpmag.com/articles/2006/06/20/lost-domain-admin-password-panic.aspx
It's basically a two step process providing you have the DSRM password,
aka (Directory Services Restore Mode) password.
If you need to reset the Directory Services Restore Mode Password, you can do this using the Offline NT Password & Registry Editor Bootdisk/CD.

Hope it helps.

Edgar.

Re: REset Admin password

Hi Edgar,

I tried the links given by you...
i tried to reset The password from NT offline utility , i got a message saying SAM ok password changed...

But when i rebooted to login thru Directory and services restore mode i got a administrator prompt , but i am not able to login thru the password which i had resetted using NT offline/ REgistry utility..

Now what do i do ??? please suggest ...

Re: REset Admin password

If you don't have the DCs DSRM password, you can still reset it remotely by running ntdsutil from another DC at the same domain.

Re: REset Admin password

What am I saying?
Forget about what I just wrote above...
If you can logon to another DC with adm privileges, then you obviously have adm credentials.

Sorry about that.
