Sure as for me an ideal gpo should enforce restrictions on all aspects and run only certain applications(in my case not more than 2).

That article is for Terminal Server but it details lots of settings you can consider locking down.
To restrict software from running you can use Software Restriction policy found in the gp editor:
Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings.
You may want to review this article at Technet regarding common scenarios of GP.

Almost done with the GPO but could anyone help me on a specific issue.when i right click on the start menu and select properties i could see everything though i have hidden drives in the GPO.
