Server 2003 printing using RDP/TS with HP Inkjets
We are having quite a problem getting 2 HP printers working from a TS Session on Windows Server 2003.
The printers are a HP OfficeJet 5610 and a HP PhotoSmart 7600 Series printer. Other brand printers either work fine or have easy to find drivers to install and then work fine but these HP printers are becoming quite a nuisance.
Is there an easy solutions to getting these working either by a work around or a 3rd Party Driver?
I have asked HP technicians on this already, been given work arounds but they simply don't work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
David

Re: Server 2003 printing using RDP/TS with HP Inkjets
Hi David,
I am having the same problem. All my remote clients are purchasing HP multi-function printers which use DOT4 port. The microsoft workaround is to sacrifice the multi-function capabilites by changing that port to LPT1. This seems simple enough but the printer just wont print over the LPT1 port, and in some cases wont print after changing it back to the DOT4 port. I am in desperate need of a workaround. It would disappoint me to have to begin making recommendations of non-HP printers because of this issue. However, I have yet to find a practical solution to this problem.
Thanks,
Lee

Re: Server 2003 printing using RDP/TS with HP Inkjets
For most multifunction printers to be supported remotely through TS, you'll need to change a registry key on the client that allows redirection of all printer ports:
