Server automatically reboots when Shutdown command is given

Hi. We are using a HP ProLiant G4 DL380 Series server. I just noticed on of our servers running windows 2003 server that it is automatically rebooting itself after a shutdown command is given. Tried it several times but with the same result. It does shuts down and then reboots automatically. What can be the cause of this problem?!?

Old BIOS can typically be a cause for this. Check that you have the latest BIOS and drivers - basically anything at a low level in (HW or kernel drivers).

Newest bios from jan 2008:

It can also be that there is a BSOD when shutting down. After a BSOD your computer will restart. So therefore your computer will not shut down because there might be a BSOD.

Try to configure the system without automatic reboot after BSOD. Then after shutdown the system will show the BSOD if this is the case.
