Storage Server 2003 SP2/R2 Upgrade Path

I have 3 Storage servers 2 are my clustered nodes connected to my EVA5000 and a 3rd I use as my SMA(i.e backups, snapshot host..etc(soon to be my command view EVA and RSM host)) they are currently running SR6.2 w/sp1 and up to date post sp1 hotfixes. I need to bring them to SP2 Could someone tell me what the best practice to bring them to SP2 level? I've heard R2 then SP2 followed by the latest PSP anyone?

Thanks

Re: Storage Server 2003 SP2/R2 Upgrade Path

This may be what the doc ordered Service Release 6.6 includes SP2 on the DVD:

R2 -> be aware that this is a new version of Windows as far as (some) new features and (most important) Microsoft licensing is concerned.

This means you have to buy an upgrade if you have 2003 and want to go to 2003 R2:

SP2 for Windows 2003 is common for both ordinary 2003 and 2003 R2 though.

The latest Windows 2003 R2 media btw includes SP2.

See upgrade paths here

The PSP ? - That's the Proliant Support Pack. For HP Storage Servers use the Service Releases instead.

If you need to update a particular driver/firmware that's included in the PSP but not the SR 6.6 - then go to the available downloads for that driver listed under the server on HP's driver pages(the latest versions can often be more recent than the PSP version).

Re: Storage Server 2003 SP2/R2 Upgrade Path

rune,

I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question....I downloaded the iso and burned it to DVD..now upon dwnload it said that SP2 is required for the SR6.6..is that an irrelevant statement since SP2 in on the SR?

So I should:
1. Install SR6.6w/SP2.
2. Upgrade to R2.
3. Apply any Post SP2 updates

Is this how I read it?
