Unable to access Vdisk from host EVA 5000 SAN

We are in the process of implementing a SAN with eva 5000 in the windows environment.

Here we use the HSV 110 controller along with BL 20 Blade servers.(windows 2003)

We have done the following configuration in the SMA over command view EVA.

1. Initialized the System.

2. Created the disk group.

3. Created a Host corresponding to a Blade server.

4. Created a Vdisk and assigned it to the above created host.

5 Install Secure path Manager on appliance server

6 Install secure path agents on Blade (Blade is running windows 2003 server)

During the above configuration everything went properly without any error message.

we observed in the Vdisk Presentation Tab the corresponding Vdisk is active and assigned to the appropriate Host.

But when we attempted to access the Vdisk ( from the Blade server) using disk management utility we were unable to

Locate it. How do we access Vdisk from the host ? Is there any clients software to be installed ?

Would appreciate very much if you could send us guide lines or manuals to setup clients to visible the EVA Vidisk

Appreciate help on this.

Thanks

prasanna

Re: Unable to access Vdisk from host EVA 5000 SAN

You need to make sure that:

- the Host entry has the correct Operating System Type set (Sun Solaris)

- you have choosen the correct Preferred path/mode from the Vdisk Active Member Properties page
-- use 'Path A - Failover only'
-- or 'Path B - Failover only'

Re: Unable to access Vdisk from host EVA 5000 SAN

Hi,

have you installed the EVA Platform Kit on the Blade yet?
Go here and select the EVA5000 Platform Kit:
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/softwaredrivers/enterprise/index.html

You will need to update your HBA drivers, too. The installation of the platform kit can do this for you.
You may need to reinstall SecurePath afterwards. Normal installation order is Platform Kit, then Reboot, then SecurePath.
