W2K3 on 6400R no Multi Proc?
I have a Proliant 6400R, Quad 550 xeons, I am tring a clean install of 2003 Server, Enterprise edition. I have no problems installing OS, but after it is complete, I am only able to view 1 processor not all 4, in task manager. Under device manager, the 6400 shows as a standard PC. I have tried forcing different Hals during bootup, but so far no luck. I used smartstart 5.4 to get the base config on there, and after install applied 7.1 SPS. I am wondering if there is somehting I am missing? I also have had this exact same problem on a 1600R with Dual 550's, I gave up on that one. I have tried hitting F10 and ctrl-a to get into the advanced system properties, but there are no settings for ACPI? I have a feeling it is related to this, any suggestions?

Re: W2K3 on 6400R no Multi Proc?
Ok, I just figured this out. I had to reset the sytem configuration jumper and reset the sytem for windows. It seems this server was setup for DOS before I bought it. Once I reset the system configuration jumper and reloaded the OS it is working perfectly, all 4 procs showing up and working.

Do you have the latest BIOS installed (4.14A)? See:

Yes, I do have the latest bios on the box, clearing the config settings looks like it did the trick, thanks for the replies!
