Hi all,
I have a server which i has done a DCPROMO to promote it to a Domain Controller.
After that I change the server name to another name from "AMSSERVE" to "AMS".
My problem is after all the steps above. When I open "My Network Places" I saw two group there. One is my domain group(AMSDOMAIN) another one is my previous server name (AMSSERVE).
When i expand the domain (AMSDOMAIN) i can see other user computer but not my server (AMS).
When i expand the workgroup(AMSSERVE) i can see only one server there, which is (AMS).
Is my domain controller behave normal? How to make my server(AMS) appear at the Domain (AMSDOMAIN)?

I think it would have been a better idea to rename the server _before_ promoting it to a DC. That it is easy to rename a domain controller does not mean it is a good idea always, since inconsistencies in AD/Schema may appear...
However did you use netdom to rename your computer? If not check this doc:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316826&Product=winsvr2003
SYSVOL is important for replication of AD objects.
Also how many DC's are there, where is DNS installed - etc?
Does DCDIAG report that everything is OK?
DCDIAG /V
DC replication status?
REPADMIN /SHOWREPS
Is DNS AD-integrated?
Cheers,
Rune
