Windows 2003 Enterprise+DC7700+ 8Gb/800Mhz possible?
Hello,
Is this possible to put 8 GB of ram at 800 mhz in a evo DC7700 with windows 2003 server enterprise.
It because when i read in the spec it says it only possible to go over 4 gb with 64 bits OS,even if i put Windows 2003 Enterprise thta says support is?
Daniel
PS:I say thank you with HP points

You need 64 bit operating system to go over 4gb of ram. DC7700 is supporting XP and Vista in 64bit, however there is no word about servers. I would give it a try, but since you'll have no drivers for servers, you may run into wall at some point. Also, from perspective of performance don't expect too much, dc7700 was never built to run server system.
Oh - you can but 800mhz memory there, but it will run only at 667mhz, Q965 chipset will not allow you to get higher as far as I know.
To be honest, treat this rather like experiment or maybe testing system, nobody can say how stable this setup would be.

You can use windows 2003 enterpise 32-bit as well - just you need \PAE flag in boot.ini
