Windows 2003 Servers freeze during shutdown

Hello.
I have two servers with Windows Server 2003 X64, that freezes during shutdown or restart process.
They begin doing the shutdown and the message "windows is shutting down" appears, and then the message desappears and the server stays in that position. the mouse pointer also desappears and nothing happens.
Can anyone help me?

We are having the same issue. Windows 2003 server x64, qlogic cards. Server freezes on shutdown process. Message disappears, and server stays hung. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Windows 2003 Servers freeze during shutdown

Please see this thread : http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1346830

My problem was comming from bad non plug&play drivers (VS2005 MV additions installed on a non VM server).

99% of the time, shutdown freezing is because of drivers. Try to disable or uninstall unknown non PNP drivers .

Hope it will help,

Re: Windows 2003 Servers freeze during shutdown

It is related to the HBA cards (drivers) and Windows 2k3 x64. Correction, they are not qlogic, but Emulex. We are using the Emulex Light Pulse A8002A StorPort Miniport Driver. We found if we uninstall the Emulex cards from Windows, the server will shutdown. Of course after reboot, they are detected and installed again. We are also doing 'Boot from SAN', which is why it is hanging. We have opened a support case, but no fixes yet. We want to put this server into production, but not until this is fixed! Help!
