Re: Windows Server 2003 driver for DeskJet 6940
I visit the printer-driver page. There was no Windows Server 2003 driver for DeskJet 6940. I attempted to install the Windows 2000 driver but it would not install.
It appears that for a client printer to appear as an available printer in remote desktop connection, there has to be a Windows Server 2003 driver for the printer. Only a very very few deskjets have drivers for Windows Server 2003, and most of the laserjets have the drivers.
Thank you.

Re: Windows Server 2003 driver for DeskJet 6940
Ok install the drivers for XP on your XP machine. If you want you can put in the IP address at this point or leave it as LPT1.
Now Share the printer on the XP machine. Now go to the WIN2k3 server and open the run prompt. in here type "\\machinename" (without quotes and obviously put in the XP machine name). when this comes up you'll see the printer you just shared. You can double click this and it will install drivers onto the 2k3 server. on the 2k3 server you can now change the properties of the printer from printers and faxes to the IP address if you haven't already dont this. you can now share the printer on the server to everyone and remove the shared one on your XP machine.
