Hi,
My customer allocated 3TB of THP V-Vol now they wanted to decrise the size of volume into 1TB. Can it be done any of the storage related technologies like Auto lun or Snapshot or Lun migration etc...
Note: Please do not say space reclaim of THP V-Vol as a solution.
Regards,
Srihari

SolutionHi Srihari,
We can not decrease THP V-vol . bu using autolun, snapshot or migration, source and destination volumes should be same size.
only option is if you have only data less than 1TB in 3TB V-vol, you can take backup in file system level and restore it to a newly created V-vol of 1TB.

Re: decrease the size of a THP Virtual Volume
the small number of CTG's is better than higher number. It is nice to test the array max numbers, but in the real life the low numbers are always better. I do not see any reason to have 100 CTG's. I bleive thy can do it with 10 and it will give them better performance. Of course they need to use ThP and not basic provisioning...and so on.

I think it's been wrongly posted.
