I am trying to apply the latest BIOS update for a BL465c G7:-
From: A19 - 01/29/2011
To: A19 - 05/10/2011
and I am getting the following error:-
The installation procedure did not complete successfully. An error occurred during the setup process.
You may look at the setup log file for more details if desired.
Additional Information:
Can't execute the Program table
Press the 'Close' button to exit Setup.
I have downloaded the version to run under Windows 2008 R2 (cp015578.exe)

Hi,
No I haven't heard a thing from HP about this, and I have tried looking online but haven't found anything that relates to the error.

The offline method didn't work as well. I attached rompaq.iso to the server and reboot it but the ROM update still failed. I think the f/w itself has problem.

it failed on 2 servers but succeeded in 1 server even though they are same model and BIOS level. The flash log shows error like below
CFlashTable::ExecuteSetupTable()
CFlashTable::ExecuteEraseTable()
CFlashTable::ExecuteProgramTable()
CFlashTable Error: Can't execute the Program table
CFwFlash Error: Can't execute the Program table

SolutionI have contacted HP and they asked me to update the CPLD first and then the ROM. Windows component is here: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-windows-fw/p919033972/v71525
I will give it a try and let you know if the issue is fixed. The update requires the blade to be removed from enclosure and inserted back after 30sec.

I have this exact same issue, but my systems are running RedHat 6.1
Is there a linux or stand-alone version of this update? Should I apply this update to all blades, or just ones that won't let me update their ROM/firmware?

I'm also waiting for an offline update for this CPLD...
HP told us while we had the case open that an offline update will follow, but that was now about half a year ago and we never heard any news about an offline update :(

Re: Error whilst upgrading to the lastest BIOS for a BL465c G7
2Arns
Suppose I have found an easy way to workaround for this issue.
Had the same fault while updating one of BL465c G7 blade's system BIOS from version 12/28/2011 to 03/19/2012 (whereas other blades with identical config in the same enclosure were updated without any issues). I had no success tried to flash new BIOS via ROMPaq and SPP (used Service Pack for ProLiant SPP_2012.06.0 which include this BIOS version).
Problem was solved after updating of System Programmable Logic Device for this blade (SPLD). For details , please read HP description on a page c02994661 (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02994661).
I. To update SPLD on a bare metal blade you need to embed Linux Smart Component for System Programmable Logic Device in to SPP.
1. Visit ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-linux-fw/p1156006652/v71524, and download file "CP015808.scexe") .
2. Load HP Service Pack for ProLiant 2012.06.0 from HP store
3. Open HP Service Pack for ProLiant 2012.06.0 in your favorite ISO-management utility (I have used UltraISO).
4. Copy downloaded "CP015808.scexe" file in to the "hp\swpackages" folder of ISO image.
5. Save updated image, burn it or attach as a virtual DVD.
6. Boot server to the ISO.
7. Select attended interactive mode for SUM utility and beware that your added package "CP015808" in installation list.
8. Install package "CP015808". It is normal that iLO connection will be broken during update. Just reestablish it.
9. Reboot blade.
II. Your should perform hard power reset to complete System Programmable Logic Device update.
1. Power down your blade and remove it from enclosure for a period of 1-2 minutes.
III. Now you can update blade system BIOS. To do this you can use same HP Service Pack for ProLiant 2012.06.0 again (for BIOS 03/19/2012) or ROMPaq (for newer versions) .
Good lack!

Well thank you!
Just tried that (implemented the scexe into the HP SPP and booted with the iso) and it worked!

Re: Error whilst upgrading to the lastest BIOS for a BL465c G7
same procedure as mentioned above (with the scexe into the SPP).
because running SPP from iso boots an unix system which then runs the scexe! (so it doesn't matter which OS is installed on the server)

Ville

Re: Error whilst upgrading to the latest BIOS for a BL465c G7
Since this problem has existed for a few years now, I was expecting HP to integrate the solution in the SPP, rather than having customers continue to create custom modified SPP images. I have a case open with them now, we'll see if that is a solution they will provide now. If not, then we can use the method mentioned. Thanks

Re: Error whilst upgrading to the lastest BIOS for a BL465c G7
I was fairly annoyed that i had to do the very slow process of booting off the full SPP just to scan/inventory this one update, which is CP015808.scexe
So, I did some digging and i found a bootable SPLD update for the DL320 G6 for a similar component, which uses a stripped down version of the SPP to apply one specific update. I deleted the .scexe out of the folder and replaced it with CP015808.scexe and although when booting the CD it still says you're about to update a DL320, when it goes to apply the SPLD it says BL 465c G7 and works like a charm. Very quick and easy.
File I started with was this:
dl320g6.ml330g6-offline-cpld-flash-22-7.iso
I opened that up and went to the /hp/swpackages/ folder and removed/replaced the .SCEXE file, and re-saved the ISO. That ISO is what I have attached. i've used this on several BL465c G7's to go from SPLD version 12 to version 15 and am no longer having issues updating the ROM/BIOS.
Enjoy.
File: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/saeutgczazascqm/AADYERk3qaVUiA-1W9VomFBja?dl=0
...or you could download the dl320g6.ml330g6-offline-cpld-flash-22-7.iso file i noted and do the same thing yourself.

Re: Error whilst upgrading to the lastest BIOS for a BL465c G7
Thanks for this tip. I also had issues getting three BL465c G7 blades to take a BIOS update (2011 to 2014) and the CP015808.scexe was the trick. The blades were already running RHEL5, so I just ran the file as root from there, no need to slip it into the SPP ISO (YMMV). The SPLD update showed an upgrade from v12 to v15. After the blades were powered off, pulled, re-seated, and powered on, the BIOS update on the SPP disk ran successfully on all 3 blades.

Re: Error whilst upgrading to the lastest BIOS for a BL465c G7
The advisory has two links:
Linux Smart Component:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-linux-fw/p1156006652/v71524
Windows Smart Component:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-windows-fw/p919033972/v71525
but the windows link is broken.
The linux link points to this file:
-rwx------ 1 Administ UsersGrp 426989 Apr 28 11:55 CP015808.scexe
I created a md5 = 602875E3471D454C281AAD59C1F7844D
Can someone confirm the file size or md5?
Because always when I run it it gives
./CP015808.scexe: line 55: $_TMPFILE: ambiguous redirect
./CP015808.scexe: Cannot decompress ./CP015808.scexe
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
