Dear anuphols,

At the below white paper (page30) you will information regarding the upgrade procedure and correct order.

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02049593

Since such procedure require severe planning you may need to provide the above info in order to get the best possible feedback from us.

If you plan to upgrade the whole c7000 infrastructre, you may need to consider proceeding with SPP.

The SPP is a comprehensive package that includes firmware, drivers, and tools across ProLiant Servers and infrastructure including a broad range of many generations of HP ProLiant BL/DL/ML/SL 100, 300, 500, 700, and 900 series servers.

@mich_a:  I cannot see such path in the document you linked? IMHO the question is about what versions to use as steps?

2.25 -> xx -> xx ... -> 4.22 or maybe 4.40

Hope this helps!

Re: Onboard Administrator firmware upgrade path document?

Hi,

Below is the link to downlaod the OA firmware for c7000 enclosure.

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=1844083&swItemId=MTX_dc5dc1fa9051424caa148ee23a&swEnvOid=4064#tab-history

Under firmware history tab you would see all the previous releases.

The best practice is to skip two verisons and update the third one available.

Do not jump more then three updates.

Note: make sure you update the blades and interconnect modules based on compatiblity matix. have a backup before making any changes.

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Since a long time I'm looking for any kind of document that contains such an information.

Do you know one?

Hope this helps!

Re: Onboard Administrator firmware upgrade path document?

Hi,

If you wanna step the document here states :

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02268930

version 2.25 => 2.32 => 2.41(skip) => 2.51 => 2.52(skip) => 2.60 => 3.0

but I have done upgrades from 3.0 -> 4.10 with no issues, haven’t done 2.25 -> 4.22. but I  suspect it will turn out fine.

Re: Onboard Administrator firmware upgrade path document?

Despite this is related to Integrity servers and very old OA firmware, they only skip a single step!

Since not every version is published or some versions are recalled, they skip a single >>published<< step!

The questions really is, are steps needed at all?

From the install instructions:

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=4132953&swItemId=MTX_dc5dc1fa9051424caa148ee23a&swEnvOid=4103#tab3

Log in to the Onboard Administrator’s web-based user interface as an administrator. Firmware Update is available under the Active Onboard Administrator category. You may select the firmware image by entering a path to the file in the "Local File" field or by clicking on the "Browse" button to locate the firmware image on the local machine, a mapped drive, or a network share.

Click "Upload" to begin the firmware update process.

No steps listed at all.

Compare this to ILO-3 for example, there is written you always have to upgrade to version 1.20, then to the newest.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
