neighbour table overflow

Does anyone know what this means? My server goes down every few hours or so and I can't find any clues in the logfiles (when the system boots normally...).
Most of the time the system boots without mounting drives, the kernel log seems to stop on it's own and I get this anoying messages every few seconds.
I run SuSE 6.4.

I did a search for "neighbor table overflow" on yahoo and it can indicate that your network interface may not be set up correctly. One message suggests it may be because the lo interface is not set up.

There are other reports that the ARP table may be full.

Either way, checking your network configuration may be a good place to start.

I read the same on the deja archives. The problem is that the server has worked for over a year now without problems.
The only thing I've changed was shutting down the nfs server. I discovered also that I used the kernel nfs and the nfsd at the same time. One article suggested that nfs had something to do with it....
The server seems to run now, but I'm not sure....
