9000/800 FLT 2021 LCD message!?

I have a test box an HP-UX 9000/800 which was installing HP-UX 10.20 fine and then rebooted itself and came up with the LCD message "FLT 2021 Cache0"

I have not been able to find this message on ITRC. Can anyone help? thanks...

Re: 9000/800 FLT 2021 LCD message!?

Hi Peter:

You don't indicate what class of hardware, so I am going to guess a K-class. If this is the case, FLT 2021 applies to CPU-0 and is an instruction cache RAM fault. See Technical Knowledge Base document #DFQKBCA00000115.

Hi peter,

I was going to refer you to the same doc that JRF is referring to, though the one i was going to refer was an older copy.
DOC ID: PAM39EF55E1

FLT 2021 or FLT 2x21 --> Insturction CACHE RAM fault. since x = 0 for your error, it means the error refers to CPU 0.

Hope this helps.

Re: 9000/800 FLT 2021 LCD message!?

I took both of your suggestions into account. I tried reseatting ALL parts within this 9k box. Booted up and got the same LCD message "FLT 2021 Cache0"

Any other suggestions or is the CPU board toast? Thanks soooo much!

Re: 9000/800 FLT 2021 LCD message!?

Hi Peter:

This appears to be a K-box. If you have more than 1 CPU, remove CPU-0 and slide the remaining CPU's down a slot - otherwise you need a CPU board. Check some of the used equipment dealers; K-box parts are pretty cheap these days.

Re: 9000/800 FLT 2021 LCD message!?

I'm new to the HP world so please forgive me. The box does have 1 CPU board where all the memory slots and CPU's are. It looks as though there are 2 gold CPU's soldered into the slots under the heatsinks(they look like Slot-7 in the intel world). There are 4 memory chips and are spread out in the righthand-bank skipping every other bank (filled = 1,3,5,7). Thanks for the kind help.

In that case, it sounds as though you have a D-box; in technical terms, you are toast. It's time for a new systemboard. You might look for an entire D-box; they're very cheap on the used market now.
