Re: Compaq Proliant 800 6/400

The PL800 supports up to a PIII 600 processor, but the board that support the PII 400 can go up to a maximum PIII 500
ThereтАЩs your problem!!! This thing is set to EVIL!

Re: Compaq Proliant 800 6/400

Are you absolutly sure the 6/400 series will take a Pentium 3?

I took the side panel off the server and on the panel sticker, it only lists 'DIP Switch' settings for up to the P2 450?

Processor board used in several servers however some modifications requires to change PPM, I/O Board
here is something for research and review

PII 450 you can install, however if you willing to install PIII you need extra kit

find where say's from Overview:

... To upgrade 400-MHz, 450-MHz, or 500-MHZ models to 550-MHz or 600-MHz or when upgrading a 550-MHz to the 600-MHz model, installation of an additional Thermal Upgrade Option Kit (144003-B22) is required...
