Installing Battery backup write cache card should cause no issues, right?
l think l can install this cache card on a live server (after shutting it down of course) without having to resinstall the OS correct?
l'd like confirmation that the current drives in RAID 5 will not be affected by the addition of the cache card.
Are there any gotcha's to beware of?
Thanks,
Al

Re: Installing Battery backup write cache card should cause no issues, right?
you can just down the server and insatll the cache card and reboot without any problems. you will have to wait a while before you see any effect as the battery will need charging for a couple of hours.
You can check the status of the battery charge level with the smart array software or the smartstart server cd. you may also want to change the read/write properties aswell in this to get best performance. more details can be found in the smart array user manual.
