The embedded controller does not support HW RAID. You can still configure you server without RAID.

This is a key server (Exchange).

Would like to use Hardware Raid if possible.

If a disk fails using the existing embedded controllers would this not brin down the server?

Yes it would.
If you need redundancy you need to configure RAID

One last thing...if you plan to used both cages...you need a controller that has two internal channels like the SA6400
