I have Proliant ml370 with a scsi dlt 36/70 tape drive. How to disable hardware compression on it?

Alex...

Not sure why you would want to disable compression but...

This pdf details the proper "buttons" to push to set the compression.

What application are you using to drive the tape unit? Some apps allow you to control compression in the software...

Re: hardware compression on dlt tape drive

The reason I am trying to disable HW compression is because my Arcserv2000 will not compress, unless HW compression is disabled. Even though the HP storageworks tests show that HW compression working (2.5:1 compression ratio) my 36 GB backup always asks for a second tape. I am working with CA to troubleshoot the problem, so they want me to use software compression to see if the data i am backing up (win2k os files, etc) is compressible. Has anyone encounter similar problem?
