MSA1000 Monitoring
I have an HP MSA1000 Drive array that is fiber linked to a Windows Cluster running NT4.0. The servers are DL580 G1s. I am trying to setup SIM to monitor the servers' and drive array hardware status. I have installed Systems Insight Manager 5.0 with SP5 on a workstation. I have not installed any Management Agents on the servers yet (and since it's a production environment, would rather not). I have configured the SIM software to discover the server IPs and am getting some information on server status. The on-line documentation is vague on the remainder of the setup to trap messages, etc from the MSA device. Several questions I have...
1. Do I need to install the management agents on the NT4.0 servers to get the MSA data or additional server data?
2. Are there management agents compatible with
NT4.0?
3. What discovery method do I need to use for the MSAs? There is an IP configured in the OS Clustering for the virtual Cluster IP address. Is this the IP that SIM communicates with?
5. Another option I have is to configure the MSA to send SNMP traps. I have snmp software running, but don't know how to configure the MSAs to send traps. Any suggestions on this would be good also.
4. What else am I missing and don't know enough to ask about configuring?
Thanks.
