PSP content

Hi,

I am working with SIM 5.2.2 and managing windows server.I will install PSP into these server, but customer want to install only really necessary components. For example not any driver etc..
I check that PSP contain some .exe packages also including drivers. Can i exclude these package and install only Insight Managemenet Agent and System Management HomePage?

Regards,
Fabrizio

Re: PSP content

Surely can do that..

While selecting the components in the install software/firmware task just select only the required components and install on the target servers.

Re: PSP content

Or why even bother to download the whole PSP package.

You can download the agents and the homepage separetly.

Re: PSP content

Hallo,
have you installed and use VCRM at the HPSIM -Server and on the clients VCA?
Then you can create in VCRM your own PSP and install this with HPSIM on your client Servers

Ok, I will try to configure my packages with VCRM.

Re: PSP content

Installing the entire PSP is the recommended approach. This is because it's a tested bundle.
Also there can be issues when the Agents / Drivers are from different PSPs.
I only install separate components if I'm trying to resolve a specific issue. Otherwise I stay with the entire PSP.
Just my 2c worth.

Re: PSP content

OK, but customer don't want to update all driver proposed by PSP package into production system. He would like to install only software component needed for monitoring scope.

Re: PSP content

Fabrizio Maggioni,

When you add PSP into VCRM, & browse to VCRM's "catalog" page.

you can see components are grouped based on

1) server or storage
2) operating system
3) category e.g "Utility - Tools", "Software - System Management", "Driver - Network" etc.

4) create a CSB & select only components fall under "Software - System Management"

Hope this is what you are looking for.
