Oh, by the way - stumbled over a bug in ESX3 that made troubleshooting a little harder.

Firewall settings not made through VI3 GUI aren't reflected there (and trying to edit rules gives an error) until a reboot or "service mgmt-vmware restart".

Thanks for the hint about the ESX GUI bug, I thought some odd things were happening with the firewall settings.
