Improve Small Business Efficiency and Performance with Virtualization Solutions
Leveraging a virtualized environmentFor small and midsize businesses (SMBs), the ability to work quickly, continuously, and cost-efficiently is critical to driving productivity and competing in a fast-paced digital climateโso much so that legacy technologies are no longer sufficient to support innovation or to satisfy escalating business requirements. Proliferating trends such as virtualization can dramatically simplify IT environments and maximize server infrastructure usage, making it easier for businesses to deploy and manage new solutions and optimize their IT resources. Virtualization technologies play an important role in helping businesses transform workflows, achieve enterprise-level performance, and reach maximum server utilization, all while drastically reducing operational costs.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) offers a variety of right-sized solutions to equip SMBs for success. With security, simplicity, and affordability in mind, Small Business Solutions from HPE enable businesses to harness greater performance at the fastest speed and the best possible price. HPE is committed to delivering user-friendly and effective solutions to streamline deployment and prepare businesses for the future. IT virtualization is a powerful first step.
Leveraging a virtualized environment
For many SMBs, legacy systems are difficult to manage and support, leading to unplanned downtime, wasted resources, and lost income. Virtualization solutions work to substantially boost flexibility and cost savings. In fact, server virtualization allows for the decommissioning of outdated hardware, which can help businesses reduce infrastructure sprawl, consolidate workloads, and increase workplace productivity to eliminate downtime. Consolidation not only boosts availability and TCO, but it also enhances IT performance with integrated applications that SMBs have the ability to virtualize.
According to a 2016 report by Aberdeen Group, a majority of SMBs pursue two key strategies during IT virtualization: leverage server virtualization (56%) and standardize their operating systems (35%). Businesses who utilize these approaches are 55% more likely to install and upgrade applications more quickly, 40% more likely to ensure greater end-user satisfaction, and achieve 20% higher cost savings.
Virtualization solutions from HPE can be both Windows Server-based and ClearOS-based. The Windows Server-based tool is a converged appliance that is designed to run virtual applications. Deployable on Linux/Windows virtual machines (VMs), this appliance can execute virtual or physical workloads, run legacy operating systems and application VMs, and manage physical machines or VMs. HPE Small Business Solutions for virtualization with Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2016 help businesses maximize their IT performance with greater flexibility and efficient allocation of IT resources, as well as optimize investments in hardware, software, and maintenance. Microsoft Server-based solutions are integral to overcome resource constraints by running more workloads on a single serverโfor example, multiple operating systems can be installed in a single server to accommodate a variety of workloads while reducing IT complexity. And backed by HPE servers, this technology allows businesses to capitalize on IT innovation while reducing security risks and disruptions.
The ClearOS-based tool is a converged appliance designed to run virtualized applications. ClearOS is an open source operating system that provides enterprise-quality network performance and application services with a simple, multipurpose platform for managing their infrastructures. ClearOS software from HPE works to unite all IT layersโfrom server, network, and gateway to cloud. Running on a single HPE server, ClearOS can replace individual network and hardware components with over 100 integrated applications. This reduces the complexity of on-premises technology and streamlines critical workloads. HPE ProLiant servers featuring ClearOS software offer a simple, affordable, and personalized platform that is ready to install out of the box. And with an easy, web-based marketplace for applications, SMBs can easily modernize and virtualize their IT environments without breaking the bank.
For Windows Server-based and ClearOS-based virtualization, businesses have a choice of two management tools to help flexibly scale and increase server utilization. Hyper-V enables businesses to create and manage a virtual environment using virtualization technology built into the Windows Server. Alternatively, ClearVM is a hybrid cloud, virtual management platform that simplifies the deployment and maintenance of disparate servers. ClearVM is a fast and simple tool which can create a virtualized infrastructure within 10 minutes.
Investing in the right solutions
Balancing performance, cost savings, security, flexibility, and manageability, HPE ProLiant ML and DL Gen10 servers are engineered with simplicity and adaptability in mind to empower business growth. HPE ProLiant ML systems are reliable and right-sized, and designed to ensure ease of deployment, versatile performance, as well as expandability without compromise. HPE ProLiant DL systems are rack-optimized, resilient, and versatile to handle workloads in a variety of data center environments.
SMBs can invest in the HPE server that best fits their needs:
- Entry-level model: Most affordable and general-purpose platform for simple management and quick deployment with entry-level memory and processor speeds.
- Performance model: All features of entry-level servers for SMBs, plus increased memory and processor speeds and additional storage.
- Solutions-driven model: All features of performance servers, plus higher levels of memory and processor speeds as well as solutions-centric software for targeted workloads.
HPE offers additional services to make digital transformation even simpler. HPE Financial Services are designed to help businesses find new ways to acquire, consume, and adapt technologies needed for digital transformation. SMBs can benefit from these flexible services with the opportunity to make predictable subscription payments. And HPE Pointnext allows businesses to operate on a consumption-based model, only paying for the resources they consume and realize massive savings.
