MSL 6030 and Network Storage Router e1200-160
I`ve some problem with msl6030… on this library customer has one drive, router (p/n 320101-001) , controller (p/n 231671-001)
Problem was that, msl don`t see drive, I replaced the router, but it didn`t see the any connections by scsi, and when i tried press discovery, router didn`t answered me(no ping, no reactions, i needed reboot the msl or router for working with this router)… so then I replaced the controller
I upgraded the firmware on the controller… but the router didn`t see any scsi connections
Then connected by next scheme: drive -> router -> controller, and I put terminator on the drive.
And yep, it`s working, router see the drive and controller, hp-ux don`t see this msl…
I didn`t find any documentations about the configuration the controller, only replacement the controller
I so stupid, that cann`t close this subcase the 3rd day!!!!
Thank for any advise (but not like “put your hands in your pockets, and do one step away” or “ just say that: i cann`t do this work, that mission impossible for me”

Re: MSL 6030 and Network Storage Router e1200-160
maybe you could check the FC to SCSI drive mapping and if needed edit the port 0 map according to your needs - ( e.g. assign the HP-UX port wwns to the drives)

Re: MSL 6030 and Network Storage Router e1200-160
NSR -> lib ctrl -> drive -> terminator
Now do the mapping on the NSR - should be "indexed".
If you use zoning in your SAN (you should!) - check this too.
If you are now on hp-ux, inspect the "ioscan -fn" output for any UNKNOWN devices - maybe you need to install the "stape" and "schgr" drivers.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MSL 6030 and Network Storage Router e1200-160
for mapping you can have a look in the user guide:

Re: MSL 6030 and Network Storage Router e1200-160
switch doesn`t have any zone configuration (no zoning)... switch see the hp-ux server, EVA 4000 and msl...
MSL can see only EVA 4000, and hp-ux server can see only EVA...
what i need to do , that hp-ux will see msl, and msl will see hp-ux???

Re: MSL 6030 and Network Storage Router e1200-160
in my opinion it is much better to do the zonning:
a) if you have the storage, then the HPUX host separately with the storage
b) and then the HPUX host separately with the library
This will isolate the host/tape and host/san drive communication and everything will be in its right place

Re: MSL 6030 and Network Storage Router e1200-160
Telnet to the NSR and log on (root/password).
Then do
1) Perform Configuration
5) Device Mapping
2) Display Current Map
and post the output.
Also attach the output of
# ioscan -fn
from your hp-ux server.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MSL 6030 and Network Storage Router e1200-160
first thing that you should do is create new LUN`s for your M$ Win server.
