We have 3 nodes with 8.0 san i/q , just preparing to add another P4500 with 8.5. Do i have to upgrade the entire cluster to 8.5 for adding the new node? Any comments?? Also have opened a case with HP.

Solution
I would upgrade first for bug fixes, performance enhancements, etc. But - that being said i've also had a mixed version cluster for a period without any noticeable problems.
I needed to do this because i couldn't afford downtime, didn't have Network Raid (2-way copy) due to capacity constraints.
If you are doing 2-way copy i'd upgrade to 8.5.

Re: Adding New Node to existing 8.0.0.1704
Thanks Jim. I'm glad to see someone go through this without any issues. I have similar constraints, and right now i have to add the new node due to space constraints. HP's recommendation was to upgrade the CMC to 8.5 and then add the new node with 8.5, to the cluster which had 3 nodes of 8.0.

Right - CMC upgrade first!
Wouldn't it be nice if everything could be 2-way copy... Dreaming...
