EOL for the Storevirtual VSA is 11/01/2018

The above statement was found in THIS thread:

https://community.hpe.com/t5/HPE-StoreVirtual-Storage/Support-Options/td-p/6940734

Can anyone VERIFY this??

The person apparently received no explanation WHY it's going EOL.

What realistic options exist??

I can't accept this as a statement.

Maybe they talked about older versions of hard- and software.

Storevirtual VSA is still alive

https://h20392.www2.hpe.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=StoreVirtualSW

and there is brandnew hardware too (Storevirtual 3000):

By the way, even the new Synergy platform is using StoreVitual technology.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: EOL for the Storevirtual VSA is 11/01/2018

This is for the VSA - I've attached a snippet from our annual suppot renenwal - although this gives a date of April 2018 (the eralier date was given by one of the "Consultants" on the web site chat.

Note the SKU mentioned was the original HP SKU (even though the original purchase predates the HP purchase of Lefthand) and has been under support/upgrade since purchase so is running v12.5

Re: EOL for the Storevirtual VSA is 11/01/2018

Appears StoreVirtual VSA will be killed as of next year -- pretty bad customer service to get people depending on this product, then kill it off without offering any alternative.

HP VSA is certainly alive now and 12.7 is due this spring -- but next year, who knows??

Would still like to see additional verifications of this EOL date.

Thank you, Tom

More information in this thread: https://community.hpe.com/t5/HPE-StoreVirtual-Storage/Support-Options/td-p/6940734

Appears this date may/might apply to specific *versions* but not the product itself.

Re: EOL for the Storevirtual VSA is 11/01/2018

So let me be as clear as possible.

What was EOS/EOL is the original version of the VSA.  A new version called StoreVirtual VSA 2014 was released as you might guess back in 2014. Here's what I also said on the other thread:

When you run StoreVirtual VSA, there are two main components:

  • the VSA (that runs as a VM) - there's the pre-2014 VSA and the newer and supported StoreVirtual VSA 2014.
  • The StoreVirtual OS - the latest version is 12.6.  The last version that works with the old VSA is 12.5.

So not to confuse things with today's containers but think of VSA as a container and StoreVirtual OS runs within the VSA container. When we moved to StoreVirtual VSA 2014, that underlying VSA changed dramatically to make it easier to support new features.

So rest easy StoreVirtual VSA fans - it hasn't gone anywhere and isn't being killed next year.

Thank you again for explaining things.
