Re: incorrectly extended file system
What you mean my incorrectly extended file system ?
fsck -F vxfs -o full , can be used to do a full file system checking.

bl.

Re: incorrectly extended file system
"fsck" is used to audits and interactively repairs inconsistent conditions for HP-UX file systems on mass storage device files
identified by special.

Re: incorrectly extended file system
If you done extend the vxfs file system with jfs option, you need to prepare your backup on the particular file system immediately.
You need to re-format the file system with the newfs command and restore the file system.
If you dont have the backup, please create a backup immediately. And use this backup once you've done the newfs.
You can try to use fsck first, but do the backup before fsck.
Hope this information can help you.
Cheers,
AW

Re: incorrectly extended file system
If you suspect about this, backup the FS first, reformat immediately. That should be always helpful before running "fsck".

Re: incorrectly extended file system
Based on what, you think the FS has been extended incorrectly?
What you can do is make a backup and recreate the FS.
Or if it's mirrored remove the mirror and use the extra disks to recreate the FS and sync the data to the new fs etc,

Re: incorrectly extended file system
if u have enable logging for LVm in syslog.log, u may be able to track which and changes made to the file system:
# grep LVM /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
or
# grep LVM /var/adm/syslog/OLDsyslog.log
regards.
