HP Storage Works XP Remote Web Console Error

I'm receiving an error when attempting to login to my XP the error states that;

A network error has occurred.  The probable cause are:

-The SVP was not ready.

-An error occurred in the SVP.

-A timeout error occurred during communication with the SVP(10 6027)

P.S. This thread has been moved from General to Storage Area Networks (SAN) (Enterprise). - Hp Forum Moderator

Re: HP Storage Works XP Remote Web Console Error

Did it ever work?
Maybe a firewall (on PC) issue.

Can you reach the SVP by ping and remote desktop?

Hope this helps!

Re: HP Storage Works XP Remote Web Console Error

We have just had the SAN relocated and this is the first time I have attempted to login I can ping the device and reach a login prompt via RDP.

Re: HP Storage Works XP Remote Web Console Error

I'm able to login successfully via RDP and run the Remote Web Console from the SVP, could it be that my version of Java is causing the error?

Re: HP Storage Works XP Remote Web Console Error

For future reference the network connection are for the internal connection "Local Area Connection 2" and for the external connection "Local Area Connection", it is imperative that these stay the same and have no space as a prefix or suffix.

Re: HP Storage Works XP Remote Web Console Error

I have two sites with XP24k that I manage via web console. One site gives me the error you described and the other works just fine. I spent many hours with an onsite HP CE and remote support troubleshooting this issue only to determine it is a network or firewall issue. The web console user guide lists the protocols and ports that need to be opened between your workstation and the SVP as

HTTP 80

RMI 1099

RMI 51099

RMI 51100

As a workaround, I RDP to a server on the same subnet as the SVP for that site and browse from there. Since it is at a secure site, getting those ports opened takes a while.
