Harness data’s value from edge to cloud

Businesses are under mandates from senior leadership to harness the power of data, which is easy to say but hard to achieve.

Companies can do interesting things with analytics. In fact, across all parts of the organization, data and analytics are playing a key role in optimizing resilience by helping business respond faster to change. But if you’re like most, there are several obstacles in your way.

The data conundrum

Data is sprawled across data lakes, warehouses, multicloud, edge, and on premises in proprietary infrastructures known as data silos. What is a data fabric?

Data fabric is defined as:

"Orchestrating disparate data sources intelligently and securely in a self-service manner, leveraging data platforms such as data lakes, data warehouses, NoSQL, translytical, and others to deliver a unified, trusted, and comprehensive view of customer and business data across the enterprise to support applications and insights."[3]

In other words, data fabric is an enterprise technology that creates a single layer of cleansed data available for reuse across multiple use cases, users, and groups.
